MLM, FAMILY, PRIDE

Woohoo~ Had such an eventful day. Finally settled down in front of my PC. Started on the book Digital Fortress by Dan Brown this morning, can tell it's going to be another mind blogging book by that smartie author. Met up with Serene during lunch, got quite a bit of information regarding 203 from her. Haha looks like it's good to be away from 203 at the moment, so much issues going on there. =D

Went off with driver to "eat snake" at PLAB, on the pretence of buying stuffs from E-mart. Well at least I did buy a few items!

There after set off to Lavender to meet this seller for his full set dragonball comics at the price of $130. Oh ya...show you all the email exchange between us before the meeting...

This is from me...

hey hi, will contact you thru sms shortly.

just one question: are all the books in plastic bag?

anyway any chance to give a discount? i'm just a student. =)
yZ

This is what he replied...

Hi Vincent

Yes, the books are in plastic bag.

You'll be surprised that students have a tremendous amount of purchasing power.

Maybe you're a student, but more likely you're a student with purchasing power..! :)

Anyway your effort for asking: the best I can give you is $130 so please don't bargain K.

Regards
DL

Wahaha...I think it's pretty cock and ya like what the old folks always say, you never know what you will get until you ask!

SEEK AND YOU SHALL BE GIVEN!

Anyway that guy was late, wanted to push for further discount but he refused to do so. Being in my Air"Horse" uniform, I didn't want to bargain further with him too. Settled the payment and BOY!!! 42 copies of comics is no mean light weight...struggled to hold onto the bag of comics and boarded the bloody MRT ride back home. Phew.~

Met up with Long afterwards for Dinner. It's always good to catch up with your buddy once in a while. Familiarity is the keyword. We talked about his insurance work and made me unconsciously link it to that MLM experience I had few years back...

MLM...been seeing quite a few of the guys from that company that I worked in recently. Bumped into two of them at SAF career centre, one smsed me that she's not been feeling good lately and just before I reached home just now, I bumped into another, who is now working as some electornics parts purchaser for some company. Looks like all is not that wonderful for those MLM achievers. But I did learn a lot through my short 6 months stint in this industry. Not that it is a bad industry but I think that just like any other society or organisation or even religion, there are just that number of black sheeps which spoil or ruin the reputation.

I must say I learned more about human beings and the value of friendship, kinship even. I realised that the focus of this industry is always on friendship and kinship, to put it correctly human relationship in general. They make use of your relationship with the buyers to sell the overpriced products. When sometimes the value of the products is secondary. But it was also through this experience that I realised how much my family members and relatives are so special and different from others. Not to say other people' relatives are bad or what. But somehow I feel blessed to have my this very own set of kins. When other parents would discourage, stopped and "pour cold blanket" to their children whenever they discovered their young punks are into such industry, my parents listen to my explaination, gave me advice and to my surprise gave me support in terms of buying the products and even recommended customers to me. And yes, it's not only my parents but my Brother too! (although I forced him into it =P) Even though my sister and bro in law didn't help me in terms of buying, they gave me time and advice during my sales period, which to me is enough, more than enough in fact. There was also my cousin who bought it at the very first time I presented the product to her. All these people made me feel confident that if one day I decide to step out into the society after my bloody 4 years bond with Air"horse", I will have the support of them. Thank you Lim family!!! I am proud to be a LIM!

Furthermore, through the MLM experience, I found out that most friends only contact their friends in times of needs. For this case, the need to help them fulfill sales quota for that month.

Other than that, usually the closing of sales was done by all means. Lies, pleas, scoldings and even peer pressure. It's all these things that made me, a prideful person, to give up entirely on this industry and side job. Not that I don't believe it can be done, as I was one of the record holders back then, but simply because they are doing the way that I was totally disgusted about and ashamed of. MY PRIDE!

Ya...and as I was telling Long that I might be condemned from the controlling world when I got back to Air"horse" next time, his immediate reply was "你不会的”. I was amazed at the speed of his reply. Not that I didn't expect that kind of answer, I mean he's my buddy anyway, he would obviously say encouraging words to me. But the reason he gave was simple and accurate. Because this "Lim"beh here is a prideful character and he would never allow himself to fail in anything. not without a great deal of struggle(added on by me).

Alright, time to read up my 42 copies of dragonball!! woohoo!! oh ya...daily dosage of cock jokes...
